Privacy statements

This statement applies to all persons with whom Verzetsmuseum Amsterdam has a relationship.

Recipients of newsletters and invitations
In order to inform people and media about the museum's activities, the museum maintains an address file. If you do not wish to receive any information and/or you wish to be removed from the database, you can let us know by sending a short e-mail or by telephone, and we will comply with your request as soon as possible.

Donors and lenders of collections
We register the name, address and possibly date of birth, e-mail address and telephone number of people who donate or lend objects or documents. This enables us to identify the person from whom we have received the material. The data is stored in the non-public part of our collection database and our paper archive. This data is not shared with other parties.

Data concerning the historic collection
Verzetsmuseum Amsterdam's statutory aim is to acquire, manage, conserve, present and make accessible a collection of authentic objects and documents relating to occupation and resistance in the Kingdom of the Netherlands during the Second World War. Historical objects and documents have been donated to the Resistance Museum or have been given on loan with the aim of presenting them museologically with the relevant historical information and making them available for historical research. If people have objections from the viewpoint of privacy they can make their objection known and the museum will carefully weigh the historical and personal interests.

Donors
The name, address, and possibly e-mail address and telephone number of people who support the museum financially as donors are registered. We use this data to send a request for donation or to inform them about the museum's activities. The data is not shared with others. After a person has withdrawn as a donor, or has died, the data are removed from the file after seven years.

Website visitors
The museum uses cookies and Google Analytics to analyse the surfing behaviour and geographical and demographic data of visitors to the website. Registration takes place anonymously and is solely for the purpose of improving the website and its offering to museum visitors. The website points out the possibility of deactivating cookies at www.cookiesuitschakelen.nl. Google may pass on this data to third parties if it is legally obliged to do so and/or if third parties process the data on behalf of Google. We have no influence on this. We have not authorised Google to use the analytics information obtained for other Google services. Please read the Google privacy policy and the specific privacy policy of Google Analytics for more information.

The website uses the websites of YouTube and Vimeo for showing film images and through our website access is provided to various social media, including Facebook, and Instagram that allow you to share information on the website with others. We have no influence on the data collected by these plug-ins.

The website has interactive sections where visitors can add stories or information with the aim of revealing them. The personal information of the interactive modules (telephone number and e-mail address) is not made public and is not shared with others without permission. If people object to the information published on the website from a privacy perspective, they can make this known and the museum will carefully weigh up the historical and personal interests.

Wifi
The museum has a free wifi network. It is possible that we receive information that identifies the user of the WiFi network or the device, such as a MAC address or a name or number assigned to the device. This data is not stored or shared.

Camera surveillance
The museum uses camera surveillance inside and outside. Camera images are not shared with third parties, unless the police or other authorities request them. The recordings will be kept for a maximum of five months, unless they are necessary in the context of an investigation by the police or other authorities.

Supervised group visits
In the case of group bookings, the name and telephone number of accompanying persons are recorded in a booking system. The data is only accessible to employees for whom it is relevant and is not disclosed to third parties. The data will not be kept for longer than seven years after the last booking.

Processing by third parties
Some personal data is provided to third parties for technical reasons or because of a (legal) obligation. Examples are the data of (school) bookings and the data related to ticket sales. In such cases, third parties who comply with the privacy guidelines will be called in and proper processing agreements will be made. Verzetsmuseum Amsterdam is and shall remain responsible for the processing of data.

People who approach the museum to ask for or give information
The museum archives written correspondence and correspondence by e-mail in an archive. This archive is not accessible to outsiders, or to employees for whom the data in the archive are not relevant.   

Staff and volunteers
The name, contact and bank details of employees and volunteers, payment details, ID card number or passport number are recorded and reports of performance reviews are archived.

If necessary, this data is provided to the company that processes our salaries and other relevant (government) bodies. We have contractually agreed appropriate security measures with our payroll processing company. The personal data is not accessible to outsiders, or to employees for whom the data is not relevant. After the end of formal or informal employment, the data is deleted from the file after a maximum of ten years. 

Data from application procedures
In the context of application procedures, we process the information offered by the applicant. After the conclusion of the procedure, the museum will delete the data or request permission to keep it on file. 

Suppliers of products and services
From suppliers of products and services, data necessary for the execution of the business agreement, such as company name, name of contact persons, job title, bank account number are registered. If we receive a request from a relation to remove data, we will comply with this as soon as possible.

General provisions
All data collected by Verzetsmuseum Amsterdam shall be kept and processed in strict confidence, and shall not be lent, sold, or otherwise made public to third parties, unless this is necessary for third parties to perform their work for you and the museum, or if there is a legal necessity to do so. The museum ensures that all processing and storage of data, and of your personal data in particular, takes place in its own facilities and with third parties in strict confidentiality.

Secure processing
Your personal data is not accessible to unauthorised persons. 

Right of access and rectification
You can ask which of your personal details the Verzetsmuseum keeps and request rectification if any of your details have not been processed correctly.

Right to remove information
If you wish to have your personal details removed, you can submit a request to this effect.
