Verzetsmuseum Amsterdam keeps alive the memory of a period of dictatorship, war, persecution and resistance in the Netherlands and the former colonies during World War II in a broad historical context: a recent historical period that had far-reaching consequences.

The museum also covers anti-colonial resistance to the Netherlands and connects the past with the present. The museum mainly highlights personal stories from different perspectives, thereby prompting reflection and providing insight into the value of tolerance, freedom and democracy.
